I consider myself a pretty good tipper. When I dine at restaurants I always leave 15% or more in gratuity. When I am at a bar I tip $1 per drink. However, when I go to the hair salon or visit the nail shop, I have to admit I never tipped, until recently that is. Growing up, I cannot recall seeing the nail technician or my hair stylist receiving tips. Nowadays, it appears to be more of the norm. Did I miss something? So needless to say, I started tipping. Then I began to wonder if I was tipping an adequate amount. I would hate for my hair dresser to dread appointments with me because she thought I was a bad tipper. Especially, when truth is I did not know how much to tip. Tipping is often confusing because every industry has different standards. As a result, we tip people for services that do not require a tip. I think tipping should be made easier. Some restaurants print out tip recommendations at the bottom of receipts. I would love if everybody did that, but until then here are some tips I found on tipping.
