We grow some pretty great ingredients here in our backyard too: peaches, pecans, gold rice and peanuts, not to mention Beaufort area oysters, shrimp, crabs just to name a few. Southern food tastes great, and when it comes to original cuisine, South Carolina leads the way! But its not just our ingredients we love, it is our recipes too, benne seed wafers, BBQ, shrimp and grits, fried chicken, hush puppies, corn bread, oyster roasts and all kinds of Low County food favorites.

The Lee Brothers are at it again. This time it’s the Lee Brother Your Holiday search for South Carolina’s favorite original holiday recipe. The recipe needs to showcase at least one Certified South Carolina grown ingredient.

You can submit one original recipe per day online at facebook.com/LeeBrotherYour Holiday now through Nov. 30 for a chance to have your favorite recipe printed and displayed in grocery stores across the state. You’ll also get to meet the Lee Brothers and prepare a meal with them.

Submissions in these categories: entrees, sides, appetizers, desserts and baked goods. Matt and Ted Lee will pick the finalists.

The Guild of Beaufort Galleries Fall Art Walk, on the evening of Saturday, October 22 showcases 11 art galleries. These galleries open their doors so you can enjoy the original work of over 500 artists. The Walk is free and open to the public and refreshments will be provided.  
 
The annual Fall Festival of Houses and Gardens will take place on from October 21 through the 23. During the Fall Festival of Houses and Gardens, you are invited to explore Beaufort from a rare vantage point: a selection of private homes, gardens and plantations normally not open to the public. Come inside and see three centuries of Beaufort architecture.

These self-paced walking tours through Beaufort offer you a distinctive opportunity to observe contemporary lifestyles coexisting with architectural heritage.

Tomorrow is the official start of this year's Beaufort Water Festival. And it is just in time. Some of the hottest weather of the summer has hit South Carolina. If you live in an apartment in Ridgeland, SC, you have probably spent some time in the pool and even more time trying to figure out other ways to stay cool.

Here is a great way to beat the heat this weekend. Tomorrow is the official start of the 56th annual celebration of music, food, art, and “just about anything fun you can do on the water” at The Beaufort Water Festival.

The Opening Ceremony is July 15 at 7, but gates open at 6pm. The ceremony features the Parris Island Marine Band and a spectacular fireworks Show at dusk. Free admission.

Saturday, July 16th is the raft race, bocce tournament, art and craft market, kids toad fishing, all kinds of boat tours, a sailing regatta, ski show, and concert in the park. Plus, much more.

Just some of the fun on Sunday, July 17th offers boat bingo, boat tours, a teen dance, and the continued sailing regatta.

But the fun continues through next Sunday. So be sure to check it out. Come and cool down at the Beaufort Water Festival. The apartment pool will still be there in August!
