This March celebrate great southern chefs, fine wine and great cuisine on Hilton Head Island. In its 27 years on the Island, the Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival has grown from a small wine tasting to one of the East Coast’s largest tented wine festivals.

The annual Fall Festival of Houses and Gardens will take place on from October 21 through the 23. During the Fall Festival of Houses and Gardens, you are invited to explore Beaufort from a rare vantage point: a selection of private homes, gardens and plantations normally not open to the public. Come inside and see three centuries of Beaufort architecture.

These self-paced walking tours through Beaufort offer you a distinctive opportunity to observe contemporary lifestyles coexisting with architectural heritage.

Tomorrow is the official start of this year's Beaufort Water Festival. And it is just in time. Some of the hottest weather of the summer has hit South Carolina. Here is a great way to beat the heat this weekend. Tomorrow is the official start of the 56th annual celebration of music, food, art, and “just about anything fun you can do on the water” at The Beaufort Water Festival.

The Opening Ceremony is July 15 at 7, but gates open at 6pm. The ceremony features the Parris Island Marine Band and a spectacular fireworks Show at dusk. Free admission.

Saturday, July 16th is the raft race, bocce tournament, art and craft market, kids toad fishing, all kinds of boat tours, a sailing regatta, ski show, and concert in the park. Plus, much more.

Just some of the fun on Sunday, July 17th offers boat bingo, boat tours, a teen dance, and the continued sailing regatta.

We all know “being green” is the way of the present and future, but what is South Carolina doing to make America more green?

“Be Green,” a manufacturer of environmentally conscious packaging, will be investing over $7 million in a manufacturing facility at 4427 Grays Highway here in Ridgleand. The facility will bring in over 175 jobs within the next five years and more will open up after that.

Manufacturing is set to begin in 2012.

Be Green makes biodegradable, recyclable, “cradle-to-cradle” products.

Speeding tickets can sure get you down, can’t they? You’re cruising down the road and all of a sudden you see flashing lights behind you. But what if you don’t get pulled over? Instead, a week or two later you receive your ticket in the mail. No opportunity to argue or reason you way out of it, either.

How did this happen?

Really, you shouldn’t have been speeding. Especially not on I-95 where the radar camera will get you every time!

On the other hand, you may never speed and you want to feel safe knowing that spring-breakers and out-of-towners have a reason not to speed.

The radar camera will snap a picture of you and your license plate when you speed. The speed limit on I-95 is 70 miles per hour. If the camera takes a picture of you, it means you were driving at least 81 miles per hour.

Since the camera was installed, there have been no highway fatalities, and accidents are down by 30%. When you see those numbers, it’s hard to argue with the camera!

Ridgeland has a population of 4,000. So why have over 10,000 tickets been dished out? The majority of the drivers on I-95 are from out of town.

State Senator Larry Grooms wants the camera outlawed, stating it’s just a money making gimmick.

The result of all those tickets? Almost $250,000 for South Carolina, Ridgeland, and the company that makes the camera.

If the camera is money making gimmick, it’s one that keeps citizens safe and has reduced the number of traffic accidents.
